Designs for a bedroom, a bathroom and a bedsit use Irish craft.
A special exhibition by the Crafts Council of Ireland opens at Powerscourt Townhouse Gallery in Dublin.
Using ideas from established and first-time designers, the exhibition aims to show that domestic and public spaces can be furnished with the work of Irish craftworkers.
Ideas on show include a humble bedsitter designed by Rachel Chidlow featuring a Venus Flytrap sofa, a curtained dining area, and a bed nest.
The humble bedsit will never be the same again.
The Irish Times columnist, Robert O'Bryne, has created a bathroom as a place to linger with a shower that brings the outside in.
Christine Ross explains that the exhibition shows that domestic and public spaces can be designed using handmade and individually created items by Irish craftworkers.
Broadcaster, composer and novelist Shay Healy has designed a bedroom featuring a built-in stereo unit, and a silk dressing screen.
