Jongleurs, the comedy club chain, comes to Ireland.

Jongleurs marked their arrival in Ireland with what they do best, a stand up show with five well known International and Irish acts.

Over the coming year they promise to deliver Ireland's very own Jongleurs TV, a tour of the country and a talent competition to help launch up-and-coming Irish comics.

In medieval times, they were wandering minstrels.

Today, Jongleurs is the biggest name in standup comedy with 1,300 wandering minstrals.

Comedian Ricky Grover says that comedy works because people recognise each others insecurities. Fellow comedian Tom Stade, observes that everybody has the same sense of humour but just laugh in a different language.

Director at Jongleurs Comedy Ireland Peter Dennehy believes that there is a market for their shows in Ireland. They are looking stage shows in towns that do not have dedicated comedy clubs and provide an international platform for new Irish comics.

Irish comedian Karl Spain says that sometimes it is more fun to perform outside Ireland.

Jongleurs may be new to Ireland but many already known the name.

There are also plans for an Irish Jongleurs TV show.
