Old favourites, computer games and electronic toys all on show at The Irish Toy Fair.

The Toy Trade Fair at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin covers a range of toys from the traditional doll and push car to the space age magic of Star Wars. The fair runs from 25 to 28 April.

There are only 205 shopping days until Christmas.

The toy market in the Republic of Ireland is worth £50 million a year. Imports of toys account for £38 million and exports total around £40 million. Eighteen companies are showing a range of Irish made toys at the Irish Goods Council pavilion at the trade show.

Many shops nowadays are full of computer type games. Wally Hill of the Irish Goods Council acknowledges that there has been an increase in demand for technology based toys but says that there will always be a place for traditional toys.
