Air Force One lands at Shannon Airport for Donald Trump's first visit to Ireland as US President.
The US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were greeted on the tarmac at Shannon Airport by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
The two leaders held talks inside the terminal building and President Trump said that it was an honour to be in Ireland. President Trump praised the relationship between Ireland and the US saying that it is as good if not better than it has ever been. The US president says he believes that Brexit could be a positive thing for Ireland. He also commented on the border.
We have a border situation in the United States and you have one over here.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was quick to add that the thing Ireland wants to avoid is a border or a wall.
After the meeting, Leo Varadkar said that they had also discussed trade and corporation tax. President Trump and the First Lady then boarded the presidential helicopter Marine 1 and travelled to Doonbeg where they will spend two nights.
