Ninety three year old James Mason and eighty four year old Peggy Clarke marry in Killarney on St Valentine's Day.
Peggy Clarke and James Mason who are both widowed met at a local day care centre in Devon last November. Within three days James had proposed, and the couple who have a combined age of one hundred and seventy seven years married in a civil ceremony three weeks later.
It was love at first sight, says Peggy, who up until then did not believe in such a thing,
It’s wonderful, at this time of life to have this, it’s a miracle really.
Both wanted to do something special for their honeymoon, and bought a camper van which Peggy drove to Killarney in time for Saint Valentine’s Day for their wedding at Saint Mary’s Church of Ireland in the town.
Joy is available to everyone who seeks it believes James Mason,
A little happiness in the twilight of your life.
The wedding ceremony which was performed by Revered Susan Watterson took place at noon, with Mayor of Killarney Niall O’Callaghan as best man.
The couple plan to travel to Scotland in their camper van for their honeymoon with hopes to travel to Europe.
