In Rosses Point people are using the internet to send Christmas greetings around the world.

Local people in Rosses Point, County Sligo have a new way to sending Christmas greetings to friends and family living abroad. Instead of sending Christmas cards, they go to the local bar Austies Pub and Kitchen to send their greetings using the internet.

Most people buy cards to send Christmas greetings to relatives and friends abroad but in Rosses Point they've found another way.

Representatives from Telecom Éireann have set up a big screen and a computer in the pub. On the Rosses Point website customers can send messages around the world. Myra Curley sends greetings to her relatives and friends mainly in America and England. All they need is an internet connection to receive her messages.

The Rosses Point website was set up last year to create a connection for people from the village who had left the country to make a new life overseas.

This Christmas we thought we'd try and unite the village people with those people scattered all over the world.

The website has received a tremendous response with people sending messages from the US, Canada, France, Norway and Australia.
