Dwellers in parts of rural Ireland are getting connected to the telephone network.

Father Turlough O'Reilly arrives at a cottage in rural county Cavan to install a telephone.

A woman living in relative isolation near the village of Swanlibar in county Cavan is provided with a connection with the outside world through the modern medium of telecommunications.

After connecting the telephone to the network, Father O'Reilly tests the phone bringing a smile to the old lady's face.
