December 8th is traditionally they day that marks the beginning of the Christmas season in Ireland.

On the 8th of December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception a Holy Day in Ireland many schools are closed. Some families take the opportunity to travel to Dublin city centre. Children and parents get to enjoy the seasonal department store window displays and begin their Christmas shopping.

At the Mansion House a children's choir sing Christmas carols.
