Tribute evening to Michael O'Hehir the voice of Gaelic Games and a racing commentator who has been broadcasting for 44 years.

Michael O'Hehir made his very first radio broadcast on the occasion of the All Ireland Football semi-final between Galway and Monaghan in Mullingar on 14 August 1938. Since then he has been bringing commentary to Gaelic Games and horse racing to millions of listeners and viewers.

Michael O'Hehir is being honoured for his work at a special presentation at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. Sports personalities, politicians including Jack Lynch, and clergy were among the guests to pay tribute to a long career in broadcasting.
