A mass is celebrated in Dublin for the repose of the souls of former members of Na Fianna Éireann.
Taoiseach Seán Lemass attends a mass for the repose of the souls of former members of Na Fianna Éireann and founder member Countess Markievicz.
The mass held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, also known as Adam and Eve's, on Merchants Quay in Dublin is celebrated by Reverend Father Rónán Ó hUallacháin. During the ceremony, flags of the organisation are blessed.
Among those joining the Taoiseach are Reverend Cormac O'Daly, Joe Reynolds, former adjutant general of the Fianna, Eamon Martin, former chief of staff of the Fianna, Frank Sherwin, Teachtaí Dála (TD) and President of the National Executive of Old Fianna Veterans and Philip Brady TD and Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin.
Over 100 members of Old Fianna veterans from Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Dundalk and other centres, wearing their national service medals, parade to and from the church accompanied by the Irish Transport and General Workers Union (ITGWU) Brass and Reed Band.
