Derek Davis takes the new Rolls Royce Corniche convertible for a test drive in the Phoenix Park Dublin.

The most expensive car in the world, the Rolls Royce Camargue retails in Ireland for about £45,000. Some £5,000 cheaper is the latest edition to the Rolls Royce stable, the new Corniche convertible.

At the cost of £40,000, the cost of five local authority houses, it’s not for those who worry about the roof over their heads.

Test driving the first of the new Rolls Royce Corniche convertibles, Derek Davis discovers standard features include hand stitched seats, thick pile carpet, walnut veneer dashboard, quadraphonic cassette player and stereo radio.

The 6.75 litre engine can whisk her along at 115 miles per hour, sadly not allowed in the middle of Phoenix Park.

Derek Davis is told the vehicle can travel 12-13 miles to the gallon, but is advised,

If you have to ask dear boy you can’t afford it.
