Delegates at a European Union conference in Cork remain unaware of an uninvited delegate, a stag seeking female company.
The Fitzpatrick Hotel in Cork, known locally as The Silver Springs is hosting a European conference on rural development 'Rural Europe - Future Perspectives'.
Mindful of the safety of the 500 delegates attending the conference, hotel staff are carrying out security checks throughout the hotel environs. An early morning inspection of a nine-hole course golf course reveals the presence of an uninvited delegate on the fairway, a stag seeking a mate.
Nobody knows how the stag got onto the golf course. He is not a danger to anyone unless threatened. Galtee Deer Care owner Pat Mulcahy explains that September to mid December is rutting season for stags. He is certain The Silver Springs stag is seeking female company.
The Silver Springs catering manager Eoin Daly believes,
He’s looking for something but he’s not going to find it on the golf course like.
While a female deer could be introduced to the golf course, Pat Mulcahy thinks a better option would be to bring the stag to females. Ideally in a setting with a more farming friendly atmosphere where the stag could be more relaxed.
Pat Mulcahy thinks the stag’s plight has a positive side as it demonstrates,
Romance is not absolutely dead and buried in County Cork.
