Tralee Boat Club honours Bill Verity who sailed across the Atlantic single-handed.
The 6,000 mile crossing of the Atlantic from Fort Lauderdale in Florida to Fenit in Kerry by American sailor Bill Verity was celebrated by the Tralee Boat Club. At a banquet in his honour presided over by Commodore P J F O'Sullivan. Bill Verity was presented with an inscribed silver salver by Miss Maud Moss, Secretary of the Tralee Boat Club.

The presentation was in recognition for Bill Verirty spending 65 days alone at sea in a 12-foot boat that he built himself to make the journey.
