Paddy Joe Canavaun explains what inflation is, what causes it and offers advice on how to combat a rise in the cost of living.

Inflation is when you put your hand in your pocket and there's nothing there.

Reporter Frank Duggan asks Paddy Joe Canavaun (Michael Twomey) of Tooreendohenybeg to give his views on how to deal with inflation. Paddy Joe is convinced that the wearing of clothes is one of the causes of inflation. His solution to this issue is to give up wearing clothes altogether.

I walk around the house in my bare feet and my combinations.

He has heard that in the city men change their shirts every day.

For me that is extreme extravagance for a man should be prepared to wear his shirt for a week or a fortnight or a month if needs be and that include wearing it in bed.

Wearing a shirt in bed means pyjamas are not required and Paddy Joe is convinced,

The wearing of pyjamas have this country is the way it is today.

Paddy Joe then offers advice on how to prevent wear and tear on clothing and footwear.
