Performers from around the world bring song and dance to Letterkenny for a very special festival.
The sixteenth Letterkenny Folk Festival attracts a mixture of folk singers and dancers from all over the world creating a carnival atmosphere in the Donegal town.
Letterkenny's Folk Festival really is a special event.
The music and dance is staged at various locations around the town. The various performing groups display diverse musical heritages from around the globe. The performers are housed and fed free of charge for the duration of the festival.
Sally Blake is a member of the voluntary committee that runs the festival and is as enthusiastic about this year's festival as she was the first.
Everything is special about this festival. We have groups from all over the world here tonight.
The all day entertainment on the streets of Letterkenny is free of charge and welcoming to all. There is an admission charge to some venues and a season ticket is available for £10 which allows access to any festival event.
Some of the international acts performing at this year's festival include the Volkstanzkeris St Bartholoma Group from Austria; the Schwegenheim Spiritual Choire from West Germany; the Italian Group Strinari; The Riley Family from Philadelphia; and the Group Hora Galim from Israel.
