A Barna man has built a mini truck specifically for collecting turf in the Connemara bogs.

After experiencing difficulty trying to get his turf off the soft spongy bog, Paddy Kelly made a buggy from spare parts and scrap from his garage in Barna County Galway.

This strange vehicle will win no prizes at motor shows or rallies but in the turf and the bog stakes it comes through with flying colours.

The wide wheels allow the buggy to glide over the wetlands where a tractor struggles. The buggy was constructed using Morris 1100 wheels and an engine from a mini. According to Paddy, it will travel anywhere.
