Meryl Streep is in Dublin for the Irish premiere of 'Dancing at Lughnasa' at the Savoy cinema.
The film adaptation of the Brian Friel play 'Dancing at Lugnasa' directed by Pat O'Connor starring Meryl Streep as Kate Mundy, also features Michael Gambon, Sophie Thompson, Catherine McCormack and Kathy Burke. It is the story of five Donegal sisters and their missionary brother eking out a living in the Glenties in 1936.
Dancing at Lughnasa is a must-see movie. It has drama, pathos, comedy and of course a little bit of dancing. Already the critics are saying it could be in for Oscar nominations.
Sophie Thompson who plays Rose Mundy describes the film as "epic in a domestic way".
Speaking briefly to RTÉ News, Meryl Streep said she would love to make more films in Ireland but is looking for ideas.
