As Georgina Ahern and Nicky Byrne marry in a civil ceremony Westlife fans and the media wait to catch a glimpse of the couple.

Georgina Ahern and Nicky Byrne tie the civil knot in a Wicklow registry office, ahead of their church ceremony which will take place in France. Around 200 young Westlife fans waited outside the East Coast Area Health Board’s headquarters in Wicklow town. They were hoping to see Westlife’s Nicky Byrne and bride to be Georgina Ahern arrive there for their civil marriage ceremony.

The couple arrive at the rear entrance to the building in separate cars, with Gardaí and security keeping fans well back.  A silver Ford Mondeo brings Georgina with her mother Miriam, while Nicky arrives in a small Opel.

Following the ceremony the newly weds left separately, avoiding photographers and the press.  The exclusive rights to their wedding have been sold to a magazine, but no white dress was spotted here today. The bride wore a cream and brown suit, while a red Ferrari cap and jeans was chosen by the groom.

Many young Westlife fans waited for hours to see their idol, and they weren’t disappointed, even if it was, as this girl says,

Just a glimpse.

The couple’s church ceremony and reception will take place in France at the weekend.
