Adults and children gather outside a railway station, and Claremont Beach in Howth, County Dublin, is packed with families having picnics. Children enjoy playing in the sea and of course, digging in the sand.
Baldoyle Racecourse in north County Dublin is equally busy, with bookmakers doing brisk business, and stylish ladies in abundance.
