Monet, Renoir, Pissaro, and Cezanne are among some of the artists to go on display at the National Gallery of Ireland.

A collection of some of the world's greatest works of Impressionist art is coming to Ireland forming the first major exhibition of its kind in the country. The sixty eight paintings will be on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to celebrate the opening of the new 4,000 square metre wing of the National Gallery of Ireland early in 2002.

No institution could boast of a more prestigious official opening.

Reporter Colm Connolly speaks to Collection Keeper Sergio Benedetti about what this exhibition will mean for the gallery. According to Benedetti

Any lover of impressionist painting will be delighted to see this show.

An RTÉ News report by Colm Connolly broadcast on 18 July 2001.
