Earthwatch bring fridges to demonstration at the Department of the Environment.
Members of the environmental group Earthwatch held a fridge protest at the Custom House in Dublin. The protestors dumped old fridges to protest at government inaction on the issue of chlorofluorocarbons.
Marcus McCabe of Earthwatch, says there is as much a problem with CFCs as with aerosols. When fridges are crushed on dumps, CFC gases escape and damage the ozone layer. Gardaí on duty said the fridges would be taken away by Dublin Corporation.
