Gardaí in Co Monaghan have arrested a man in his 30s and recovered four loaded firearms.
A car was stopped during speed checks on the N2 at Lisanisk outside Carrickmacross this afternoon.
Four loaded pistols were seized and the man was arrested.
He was taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station where he is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He can be questioned for up to three days.
Gardaí do not believe the guns are linked to the ongoing Drogheda feud.
