A 78-year-old man has died in a road collision between a car and a truck in Co Monaghan.
It happened on the N2 between Castleblayney and Carrickmacross near McCaughey's filling station shortly before 5pm.
The driver of the car involved was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital, where his injuries are described as not life threatening.
The road is closed to traffic in both directions as gardaí and emergency services continue to examine the crash site.
It is expected to remain closed overnight with local diversions in place.
