An investigation is under way after a man was seriously injured during an alleged assault in Derry.
The PSNI said the man, who is aged in his 30s, was attacked by several men on Newmarket Street at around 2am.
He is being treated in hospital for serious head injuries.
The scene has been cordoned off and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
