Dublin boy donating proceeds of books to charityTuesday 23 April 2013 19.54
A nine-year-old boy is donating the proceeds from the sales of his two books to the Clinical Cancer Research Trust at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
Joe Prendergast, from Sandyford, made the decision after his father Geoff lost his five-year battle with the disease.
He wrote his first book, "The Great Fragola Brothers", in 2012.
A sequel, "The Great Fragola Brothers - The Twisted", has just been published.
The books tell the tale of two magicians, Paolo and Giuseppe Fragola, who become embroiled in a world of secret societies and dark magic.
Both titles are available as eBooks through the online publishing company Emu Ink.
Joe, who is a pupil at Holy Trinity National School in Leopardstown, writes every day.
He said he loves nothing more than sitting at his laptop with a "good milky cup of tea" to keep him company when writing.
