Fine Gael TD Maria Bailey will not chair the Oireachtas Housing Committee when its meets today.

The deputy chairperson Pat Casey was asked yesterday to order the committee's business at the scheduled 9am meeting.

Maria Bailey is expected to meet the Taoiseach in the coming days, although this has not been confirmed.

The Taoiseach has said that he has questions for Deputy Bailey, who did not get the green light from her party before talking on the Today with Seán O'Rourke programme on Monday.

Already, the Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has called on the Taoiseach to ask Maria Bailey to stand down as an Oireachtas Committee Chairperson.
