A couple in Poland have welcomed the country’s first sextuplets, with four girls and two boys born to a 29-year-old woman at Kracow University Hospital on 20 May.

The babies, born by caesarean, weighed between 890g and 1.3kg (1.96-2.86lbs).

Their mother, Klaudia Marzec, said: "It was a surprise, we were expecting quintuplets. During delivery it resulted that there were six children. "It was a shock at first, stress, but after the delivery I could touch one of the girls, so then happiness came."
