A 22-year-old motorcyclist has died in a road crash in Co Waterford.

Martin Walsh, from Rathpatrick, Slieverue in Co Kilkenny, died after his motorbike hit a barrier on the Tramore Road near Waterford city at around 10pm last night.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was later removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
