One man has been charged over a burglary and the theft of a vehicle in the Castletroy area of Limerick city.

He was arrested along with two other men after a car failed to stop for gardaí in the Garryowen area.

The car drove off at speed before coming to a stop when three men fled the scene.

Gardaí from Roxboro Road and Henry Street searched the area, found the two men in their 20s and a teenage boy.

One man appeared at a special sitting of Kilmallock District Court this afternoon.

The other two men are being held at Mayorstone Park garda stations.
