Hundreds of people have gathered outside University Hospital Waterford as part of a protest vigil following the death of local man Thomas Power.
Mr Power died last Sunday night last while being transferred to a hospital in Cork. It believed he suffered a cardiac arrest.
There is huge anger among those gathered who are calling for 24-hour cardiac services at the local regional hospital.
Organised by the Still Waiting Health Campaign, the organisers say they are being ignored and plan to intensify their campaign.
The catheterisation lab at UHW is not available to treat emergency cases after hours or at weekends.
Patients who require a stent or emergency care during these hours are transferred by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.
It is understood that it was under these circumstances that Mr Power died last weekend.
