A three-year-old boy has died in a farm accident near Enniscorthy in Co Wexford.

Gardaí say that he was struck by a low loader vehicle in a farmyard at Carrigabruise, Carley's Bridge, at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

The boy was taken to Wexford General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

It is understood he was visiting the farm when the accident happened.

Investigations are under way.
