Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Co Longford

A 62-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car in Co Longford yesterday.

The pedestrian was fatally injured at Cleenrath, Aughnacliffe, at around 7pm.

His body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore for a post-mortem examination.

The 44-year-old woman who was driving the car was uninjured.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopend.
