A 62-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car in Co Longford yesterday.
The pedestrian was fatally injured at Cleenrath, Aughnacliffe, at around 7pm.
His body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore for a post-mortem examination.
The 44-year-old woman who was driving the car was uninjured.
The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopend.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Granard Garda Station on 043-6687660, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
