Death of woman in Co Louth not suspicious, say gardaí

Gardai have said the discovery of a woman's body in a house in Co Louth early this morning is not being treated as suspicious.

Earlier, gardaí had launched an investigation after the woman was found dead in a house in the Aston Village area of Drogheda.

The woman, in her 60s, was pronounced dead shortly after emergency services were called to the house at around 5am.

Deputy State Pathologist Michael Curtis attended the scene and carried out a preliminary investigation.

A post-mortem examination was then carried out this afternoon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

This evening, gardaí said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
