A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Athlone last night.
The man, who is in his 20s, was shot in the leg in the Athlone town area at around 9.40pm.
His injuries are not life-threatening and he has been discharged from hospital.
The teenage boy is being held under Section 30 of the Criminal Justice Act at Athlone Garda Station.
