Revenue officers have seized smuggled cigarettes worth nearly €880,000 in Co Louth.
The seizure of the 1.6 million smuggled cigarettes was made when a truck was intercepted near the M1 motorway.
The cigarettes, which were branded "Richman Royal", may have originated in Dubai.
They were concealed in a number of crates which were said to have contained "book covers".
According to Revenue, the seized cigarettes represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €700,000.
