A man has been injured in a shooting incident in a field on the outskirts of Tullamore, Co Offaly.
The 21-year-old was in a field off the Clara Road in Tullamore when he sustained pellet injuries to his legs after he was struck by a shotgun just before 10pm.
He was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
Gardaí believe that a shot was fired from some distance away.
A second man present at the time escaped uninjured.
Searches in the field have been carried out and inquires are ongoing.
