A woman in her 30s has been hospitalised following an assault in Longford town.
The incident happened on Main Street in the north midland town just before 4pm.
Gardaí say it appears that the woman sustained multiple stab wounds.
She has been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No arrests have been made.
