Crowds pay final farewell to Longford teenager who drowned

Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of the Longford teenager who drowned after a swimming accident in the river Shannon last Tuesday.

Damola Adetosoye's parents Helen and Adekunle, siblings Victor, Aaron, Mercy and Sharon led the mourners at a requiem mass in St Mel's Cathedral, according to the Longford Leader.

The Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise Francis Duffy presided at the funeral which was attended by dozens of students from Templemichael College in Longford where Damola was a student and the Attic Youth House project where he was involved.

A guard of honour was provided by the youth groups of Longford as the coffin left the cathedral.

The teenager’s remains were taken to Ballymacormack cemetery for burial.
