Pestos, frozen vegetables recalled over bacteria concerns

Dunnes Stores and Spar are recalling batches of pesto over Salmonella concerns while Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd is recalling various frozen vegetable products because they could cause listeriosis.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said: "As a precautionary measure, Dunnes Stores and Spar are initiating a recall of their own-brand pestos, due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

"Consumers who have bought the implicated batches should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase."

The batches involved in the recall are 130g Dunnes Stores Tomato Pesto (Use by dates between 05/07/2018 and 30/09/018) and Basil Pesto (Use by dates between 02/07/2018 and 25/09/2018); and Spar's 125g Basil Pesto (Use by dates between 05/07/2018 and 25/09/2018) and Red Pesto (Use by dates between 05/07/2018 and 25/09/2018).

Meanwhile, Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd is recalling various frozen vegetable products because they could cause listeriosis.

The frozen vegetables are on sale in Tesco and Lidl, among other stores.

Listeriosis is a serious disease which can be life threatening, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system, according to the FSAI.

The FSAI has advised that Consumers return the product to the store from where it was purchased. Consumers who may be feeling unwell should seek medical advice.
