Gardaí have upgraded their investigation into the death of Amanda Carroll, who was found dead in her home in Dublin yesterday afternoon, to a murder inquiry.
The 33-year-old mother-of-two was attacked in her apartment at the Homestead Court complex over the weekend and died from asphyxiation.
A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the attack is still being questioned at Mountjoy Garda Station.
The Homestead Court apartment where Ms Carroll died remains sealed off for a forensic examination.
Ms Carroll had lived there for the past 11 years.
Her body was found by a relative at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

A post-mortem conducted today showed that she died from strangulation.
The mother of two sons, aged five and 16, Ms Carroll described herself as a stay-at-home mum.
She had previously studied child development in college in Marino.
Gardaí are also investigating the origin of facial injuries that Ms Carroll sustained earlier this week, and have not ruled out the possibility that these could have been accidental.
The arrested man, who knew Ms Carroll, must either be charged or released by 1am tomorrow morning.
Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry in the investigation.
They are not looking for anyone else at present and are treating the case as a domestic incident.
