Funding for Dublin's north inner-city following feud violence is to be increased by €2m next year.

Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring announced that a total of €5.5m will be available for local projects next year.

The North East Inner City regeneration plan will employ a total of 50 people directly in environmental work, childcare, youth work and older people care.

The biggest funding is the redevelopment of the Lourdes Day Care for older people, which will cost €340,000.

A total of €300,000 will be spent on family and community events this year.

A street-cleaning and neighbourhood improvement scheme, 'The Green Ribbon’, will receive over €140,000 in capital funding.

Extended opening hours for Sean McDermott St swimming pool will also cost over €100,000.
