Two held after €8.2m drugs seizure in Co Kildare

Two men have been arrested after gardaí seized €8.2m worth of drugs in Co Kildare last night. 

Officers from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Special Crime Task Force seized 374kg of cannabis herb, worth around €7.4m. 

The men, aged 46 and 49, were arrested and are being held at Naas Garda Station. 

Gardaí also carried out a search of a vehicle, during which 11kg of cocaine was found and seized. 

The value of the cocaine is estimated to be around €770,000.

Detective Chief Superintendent Angela Willis said the operation demonstrates the determination by gardaí to tackle the supply of controlled drugs.
