A man and a woman have been arrested in Dublin by gardaí who believe they were en route to carry out a shooting.
A loaded gun, a silencer, a mask and a container of petrol were discovered after a car was stopped in at Rathborne Village in Ashtown, Dublin 7 at 5pm.
The pair, both in their 30s, were arrested and are being detained at Finglas Garda Station.
They can be questioned for up to three days.
Gardaí believe the foiled attack is related to an ongoing feud between the Kinahan and Hutch crime gangs.
They believe members of the Hutch gang may have been the target.
