A 25-year-old man has admitted raping a Spanish student in south Dublin last year.

Eoin Berkeley of Hamptonwood Way, Finglas in Dublin, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to three charges of raping the woman at the former Irish Glass Bottle site at Pigeon House Road in Ringsend at a time unknown between 15-16 July 2017.

Eoin Berkeley has been in custody since he raped the teenager last summer.

The young woman was just 18-years-old at the time. She had come to Ireland and was living with a host family last summer.

Following Eoin Berkeley's guilty plea - the case was put back to allow the woman make a victim impact statement.

Prosecuting Counsel Caroline Biggs said arrangements would be made for her to come to Ireland for the hearing should she wish to.

Defence Counsel Michael Bowman also said that he would address the court in relation to psychiatric issues.

After he was told that the woman might need to be in Ireland for a number of days, Mr Justice Michael White said he would sentence Eoin Berkeley in October and if the woman did wish to come - he would finalise sentencing within that week - possibly on the Friday.

He remanded Eoin Berkeley in custody for sentencing on Monday 22 October.
