A 33-year-old man has appeared in court in Carlow to face a charge of assault and another serious charge in relation to a woman who was found unconscious in Carlow last weekend.
The victim was attacked at Pollerton Castle in Carlow town in the early hours of last Sunday morning.
The man appeared before a special sitting of Carlow District Court this morning.
The man, who can not be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody by Judge Colin Daly after gardaí objected to bail.
He is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday.
