A female pedestrian in her 70s has died after being struck by a 4x4 vehicle in Co Galway last night.
The collision happened shortly after 9pm on the M18 at Cloughboley, Ardrahan.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman's body was removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The driver of the 4x4 was uninjured.
Garda forensic collision investigators have examined the crash site and the road has since fully reopened to traffic.
