The school where Kyle Pilbrow was a first year student has paid tribute to him following his death in a tractor crash in Co Mayo on Saturday.

The 13-year-old was a first year student at St Colman's College in Claremorris.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the school said Kyle would be remembered for "his lovely personality, his friendly smile and his pleasant demeanour".

Today, supports were being providing to his friends and classmates.

National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) staff travelled to his school, to provide counselling services to those impacted by the tragedy.

Kyle died when the tractor he was driving overturned on a stretch of road, in the Scardaune townland, on Saturday evening.

He is survived by his parents and three brothers.

The Garda investigation into the accident is continuing.

The accident happened around eight kilometres south of Claremorris, shortly after 8:15pm on Saturday.

The teenager was initially treated at the scene before being brought to University Hospital Galway. He was subsequently transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin, where he died yesterday.

A technical examination of the crash site was completed yesterday before the road reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses who were travelling on the L1610 on Saturday evening - or any motorists with dash-cam footage that might assist the investigation - to contact them.

A file will also be prepared for the Coroner's inquest into the death, which will take place at a later date.

Kyle Pilbrow will be laid to rest following funeral mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Hollymount, on Thursday afternoon.
