Four arrested following firearm incident in Co Wexford

Four men have been arrested in connection with an incident involving a firearm in Co Wexford.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a commercial garage in Clonroche at around 10am, during which four men, armed with a handgun, entered and threatened staff.

It is understood the men had been looking for an individual, before fleeing the scene in a silver Hyundai car.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.

The car was later spotted during a follow-up operation on the M9 motorway.

It was intercepted by members of the Garda Emergency Response Team on the M7 at the 'Perpetual Motion’ landmark near Naas.

The four men, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, were subsequently arrested.

They are being detained in garda stations across Co Wexford.
