President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar have attended the National Day of Commemoration service at Collins Barracks in Dublin today.
Similar events were also held at Fitzgerald's Park in Cork and Merchants Quay in Limerick this morning.
The services honour all Irish men and women who died in past wars or on United Nations service.
Church leaders, members of the Council of State and others were also in attendance at the Dublin event.
The event is held on the Sunday nearest to 11 July, the date of the signing of the Anglo-Irish truce that ended the War of Independence in 1921.
The military ceremony included an interdenominational prayer service, the laying of a wreath by the President, musical interludes and the observance of a minute's silence.
Among those attending were relatives of the 1916 leaders, families of those who have died in conflicts and representatives from Northern Ireland.
The ceremony ended with a Air Corps flyover.
Members of the public also attended the event.
