A 23-year-old student has admitted murdering a man in Dublin last year.
Charles Cleary, of no fixed abode but from the Rathfarnham area of Dublin, pleaded guilty to the murder of Leo Carolan when he was arraigned at the Central Criminal Court this afternoon.
Mr Carolan was a second-year student at the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, where he had been studying creative music technology.
The 25-year-old, who was also a DJ, was living in a flat on the South Circular Road after returning from studying Anthropology in France.
He was attacked and stabbed to death on 4 October last year.
Cleary was arrested four days later by detectives from Kevin Street and subsequently charged with the murder.
He also faces three other charges of robbery and the assault and attempted murder of a Swiss national, Ludovic Thomas.
Prosecution counsel Patrick Gageby said these charges would be disposed of on 11 January when Cleary is due to be sentenced.
Cleary was remanded in custody and faces the mandatory term of life in prison.
